Quran memorization, recitation contest held in Tanzania

Dar es-Salaam (Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The Iranian Cultural Center in Tanzania has recently organized a Qur'an competition in the country.

According to the public relations office of Al-Mustafa International University, the contest was held in the categories of recitation and memorization on the occasion of Hazrat Zahra (SA) birth anniversary.

Some 40 individuals from the Shi'ite and Sunni communities of Tanzania took part in the preliminary stage of the contest and 15 contestants made it to the final round.

The final round was held on the birth anniversary of Hazrat Zahra (SA) in the presence of Tanzanian Defense Minister Hussein Movini, Iranian ambassador to the country, grand Mufti of Dares Salaam Sheikh Al-Hadi Musa Salim, representative of Al-Mustafa International University and a number of local figures.

Three Qur'an masters, one from Egypt and the other two from Tanzania, made up the jury panel of the competition.

Winners of the two categories were awarded by the Iranian Cultural Center. Members of the jury panel also received special gifts.

The top winners in the two categories will represent Tanzania in Iran’s international Holy Qur'an competition.
