Grand Sheykh of Al-Azhar and Head of Tunisian Ennahda Islamic party invited to Iran

Iranian top cleric invited Ahmad al Tayyeb, grand Sheykh of Al Azhar, and Rached al Ghannouchi, head of Ennahda Islamist party in Tunisia, to visit Islamic Republic of Iran.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Iranian top cleric invited Ahmad al Tayyeb, grand Sheykh of Al Azhar, and Rached al Ghannouchi, head of Ennahda Islamist party in Tunisia, to visit Islamic Republic of Iran.

Hujjat-ol-Islam Mohammad Hussein Akhtari, Iranian senior cleric attending the general meeting of Ahlul Bayt (AS) World Assembly referred to the activities of the forum counting inviting great Muslim figures from other countries as one part of the organization's missions.

He confirmed his correspondence with Al Azhar grand sheikh and said, "I have sent a letter to Al Azhar Sheikh inviting him to visit Iran and I am looking forward to receiving a reply." adding that following the election in Tunisia he congratulated Ghannouchi over his party's triumph in the election and invited him to travel to Iran which was accepted but the trip was postponed to a proper time in future.

Regarding the situation of the Shia in Egypt he said," Egyptian Shia are constant participants of our meetings and have no problem in their activities and added attack against the Shia in Egypt is in fact guided by groups from other countries but in general Shia are not prevented from their activities.

He counted explanation of the Islamic stances of Shia among the missions of Ahlul Bayt (AS) World Assembly and said the bases for the discussions performed by the forum are social and scientific announcing the willingness of the organization for interfaith dialogues with representatives from the Vatican.

Hujjat-ol-Islam Akhtari referred to the activities of the forum and said Shia official associations are recognized in more than ۵۰ countries around the world and criticized the United Nations for a lack of support for Muslims.
