(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - In a Monday statement, Ramzi Garmou, the archbishop of the Iranian capital’s Chaldean Catholic Archdiocese, denounced the move as “heinous and unethical”.

The Chaldean Catholic Church strongly condemns the heinous and unethical act, and demands respect for holy books, religious sites and prophets of all religions, said the statement.

All members of different faiths are called on to refrain from any sort of violence, in particular, those committed in the name of religion, it read, adding that monotheist religions should serve to preserve peace, love and reconciliation among nations.

On April 28, American pastor Terry Jones burnt copies of Islam’s holy book and portraits depicting Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

It was not the first time that the radical pastor burnt the holy book. On March 20, last year, Jones set ablaze copies of the Qur’an in Dove World Outreach Center’s sanctuary although he had initially retreated from a decision to do so.

The move sparked outrage in Muslim countries.
