An Iranian top Shia cleric messaged international Islamic conference to denounce anti-Islamic policies of Azeri authorities demanding for more respect towards the rights of the people.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - An Iranian top Shia cleric messaged international Islamic conference to denounce anti-Islamic policies of Azeri authorities demanding for more respect towards the rights of the people.

Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi, senior Iranian jurisprudent and professor at Qom Seminary issued a message for the upcoming International Conference of the Global Mission of Islam and slammed western countries for prevention of Islamic educations in Azerbaijan.

“Western countries, particularly Israel, pursue bringing a gap between Azerbaijan and other Islamic countries.” said the cleric adding that Israel, in pursuing this strategy, aimed at providing a prey for itself.

According to the message issued by this figure, Islam is a global religion and its teachings are not confined to any border or any government.

He referred to an 80 pc Shia majority in Azerbaijan calling that the second Shia country in the world and demanded for stronger ties between Azerbaijan and other Muslim countries particularly amid the present situation of the Muslim world.

Ayatollah Makarem also recommended Azeri heads of state to spare more attention for scientific development and welfare of the people particularly people in Qarabagh district.

The two-day international conference on the global mission of Islam will be held in the western Iranian city of Ardebil on May12 and 13, 2012.

The conference aims at boosting solidarity in world of Islam and explaining the role of Islam in global changes particularly Caucasus issue.
