(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - It is high time to clear wrong perceptions about Islam and Muslims,” said Al-Sheikh Al-Sayyed Affeefuddin Al-Gailani, a renowned Islamic scholar of Malaysia, during his visit to the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) on Tuesday.

He said that the IIUI played a great role in portraying the true picture of Islam, adding that Pakistan was a precious gift of God for Muslim Ummah and he was very happy to visit the country.

He said it was the responsibility of every Muslim to convey the message of Islam to human beings and remove misunderstandings about Islam created by anti-Islamic elements.

He added that the IIUI could play tremendous role in this regard.

Dr Sajidur Rehman, IIUI acting president, said that Pakistanis had great love for Muslims all over the world and every Pakistani feels the pain and sorrow of Muslims whenever they are in trouble.

Dr Tahir Mansoor, Faculty of Shariah director general, briefed the distinguished guest about the university and its various departments.

At the end, Dr Sahibzada Sajidur Rehman presented the IIUI crests to Al-Gailani and other members of delegation.

It is remarkable to note that Al-Gailani hails from the family of famous Islamic saint Sheikh Abdul Qadir Gilani. He was shifted to Malaysia from Iraq in 2008.

The Sheikh is viewed as a moderate scholar and is held in high esteem. He is a patron of Al-Wariseen Trust which raises and distributes funds to the programme relating to teachings and understanding of Islam, education and health sciences.
