Fresh talks between Iran, 5+1 start in Baghdad

Fresh nuclear talks between Iran and the sextet began in the Iraqi capital on Wednesday.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili and the European Union (EU) Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton are co-chairing the negotiations.

After the first round of talks held on April 14 in Istanbul, Turkey, the two sides reached agreement on holding the second round of negotiations in Iraq.

The two also agreed on negotiating on a "new modality" for cooperation in Baghdad.

Iranian delegation arrived in Iraq on Monday.

During his stay, Jalili conferred with the Iraqi President Jalal Talabani, Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and a number of other top officials of the country.

The sextet includes the US, Britain, China, Russia and France plus Germany.
