(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The 4th international edition of Dubai Quran Calligraphy Festival is scheduled to be held from August 13 to 15 in the UAE.
According to WAM news agency, some 30 calligraphers from 12 Islamic and Non-Islamic countries including Iran, Iraq, Syria, Palestine, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, England and Germany are expected to participate in the event.
The participants will compete with each other on writing one Juz (part) of the holy Quran using the same pen and amount of ink at the two-day festival.
Hokm Al-Hashemi, head of the organizing committee of the festival said in a statement that, “a number of internationally-known calligraphers including Davoud Al-Farjavi from Iraq and Mohamed Saleh from Syria will judge the contest”.
He went on to add that a number of forums on Quranic beauty and writing style will also be held as sideline activities of the festival with the aim getting the visitors further acquainted with aesthetic aspects of the Book of God.
Organized by Dubai’s Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development, it will be held at the country’s Grand Hyatt Hotel.
